PURPLEHEADZ -Djs & Producers-January 14 Bangkok Spin Review, Purpleheadz@BedSupperClub.
(Review) PURPLEHEADZ are C'Dric and Jean-Jerome, 2 french DJs and producers. They were performing together at Bed yesterday. First interesting thing: their setup, they were using 4 decks, 1 CDJ and 2 mixers. Second interesting thing: they were playing tech, progressive and tribal house, which is quite a rare thing in Bed. Actually, it's understandable considering the time schedule, it's a bit difficult to warm up people on techno sounds at 10pm. But well, this time, Bed gave a try and it paid off...They started on dark tech house beats and warmed up the dancefloor with some tribal rhythms. The duet was quite smooth, working their mix very well together. The crowd was mainly reactive when their set was more 'housy' and percussive. A bunch of people coming especially for that sound, helped to get a good vibe on the dancefloor. Although tech and tribal house are not really popular on most of Bangkok dancefloors compared to funky house, it was encouraging to see such an enthusiasm from the clubbers. Once again, it's mainly due to the time schedule and most DJs in the city will agree that this type of music would be much more appropriate after 3am. Nonetheless, with the right promotion for the right people, tribal tech house performances in Bed can be successful, as the PURPLEHEADZ proved it yesterday. C'dric (aka Dee') & Jean-Jérôme (aka Kut'n'Paste) are the 2 members of the Purpleheadz from France who're renowned around the world for their productions & crazy performances on 5 turntables. The Purpleheadz play all styles from House, Progressive, Tribal to Tekno, but their favorite style is the Tribal Tek-House specialy to put fire on the dance-floors, they also play Drum&Bass. However, they always adapt selections according to the crowd wants to hear, the Purpleheadz definitely knows how to read the crowd & everywhere they perform, people become crazy on the music they play.
